Stan is duck hooking his driver

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:01 pm by Jacque

Hi everyone!

Stan posted a question for me to answer about his swing. He writes:

‘Hi Jacque: I am a 15-17 index and occasionally duck hook my drives.
I am swinging inside to out but must be coming too inside or too flat or doing something different. How can I fix the duck hook?’
Stan

Watch the video below to hear my explanation. Please post questions for me to answer in this video format. I would love to help your swings!

I find your blog videos very helpful; they have helped improve my game.

We know that scoring occurs from 100 yards in, but I often drop a stroke by misjudging the distance with my partial back swing. I try to use the same wedge (gap) for all distances but modify back swing for yardage. Do you have any tips or practice tips to help improve this part of the game?

    Hi Mark,

Inside 100 yards is so much feel…you are doing the right thing by modifying the backswing for different distances, but you may have to learn the right amount of power to put behind those modified shots. This comes from alot of trial and error, and if the longer ones are still coming up short, you may just need to grab a longer club and smooth it up there. You can always choke down on a wedge with a 3/4 swing for the longer shots that keep coming up short. Hope this helps – practice makes perfect!
